Phase 1 · Lessons 1–5
Use the Start Guide to choose a path, then learn the scripts and sound cues that make later examples easier to read and hear.
Choose one immediate Japanese need, select a route, and open its first useful lesson.
Identify the hiragana, katakana, and kanji parts of one mixed Japanese word or message.
Read the five vowel hiragana and identify the main sound rows.
Recognize common katakana words on menus and signs.
Pronounce the five Japanese vowels and hear the difference made by sound length.
Phase 2 · Lessons 6–10
Practice greetings, introductions, thanks, attention, and a request for slower speech before adding practical transactions.
Choose an appropriate Japanese greeting for the time and relationship.
Give a 20-second Japanese self-introduction.
Thank someone in casual and polite everyday situations.
Use sumimasen to get attention, make a small apology, or acknowledge another person's effort.
Ask a speaker to slow down or repeat, then confirm one recovered detail without ending the conversation.
Phase 3 · Lessons 11–16
Move from prices and pointing to shopping, ordering, payment, and stating a food restriction.
Ask one item's price, confirm the yen amount, and use it to make a budget decision.
Move through a simple store interaction from finding an item to paying.
Point to nearby and distant objects with the correct Japanese demonstrative.
Order a menu item, quantity, and drink, then ask for the check.
Handle common restaurant questions from arrival through payment.
State a food allergy, ask about ingredients and shared preparation as separate facts, and decide whether to order from the restaurant's current answer.
Phase 4 · Lessons 17–23
Use location and transport questions, then practice hotel, health, and emergency handoffs where clarity matters.
Ask where a destination is and confirm the first route step.
Find the right platform and ask where to transfer.
Confirm a train's destination and recognize when a transfer is required.
Answer common convenience-store checkout questions with short responses.
Check in and make one clear request at a hotel.
Describe one symptom, body location, and duration, then confirm medicine timing.
Ask for emergency help and give a simple location and problem.
Phase 5 · Lessons 24–30
Add workplace and neighbor exchanges, then learn the sentence frame, politeness, particles, and verb forms behind them.
Greet coworkers on arrival and leave work politely.
Introduce yourself as a new neighbor and close the exchange naturally.
Build a simple Japanese sentence with a topic, information, and final verb or predicate.
Make basic polite noun and adjective statements with desu.
Use wa to establish a topic and ga to identify or present focused information in basic sentences.
Use ni for a destination or existence and de for where an action happens.
Say what you do, do not do, did, and did not do in polite Japanese.
Phase 6 · Lessons 31–37
Handle buses, taxis, flights, lost items, delays, and IC-card top-ups without treating the first problem as the end of the trip.
Board a local bus, follow the payment flow, and confirm where to get off.
Ask whether a bus goes to a destination and act on the driver's answer.
Give a taxi destination, confirm the stop, and complete payment.
Check in for a flight and confirm baggage, seat, and the next departure step.
Report one lost item and provide the place, time, and identifying details.
Identify a train delay and confirm one workable next travel step.
Ask to add a chosen amount to an IC card and confirm the new balance.
Phase 7 · Lessons 38–42
For health, disaster, and non-emergency police situations, identify the current instruction and keep decisions with the appropriate service.
Describe one symptom and confirm whether and how to use a pharmacy product.
Check in at a clinic and confirm the form, waiting, and language-support steps.
Recognize one immediate earthquake instruction and confirm where to move next.
Recognize one typhoon warning and confirm the current local action.
Explain one non-emergency problem and follow the next police instruction.
Phase 8 · Lessons 43–50
Complete delivery handoffs, ask about current local waste rules, and report one utility, repair, or rental fact precisely.
