When you receive a missed-delivery notice, first identify the delivery company and the tracking or notification number. Then say 再配達をお願いします (“I would like redelivery”), confirm the delivery address, choose an available date and time window, and repeat the final booking. The form and available options differ by carrier and parcel.

Read the notice before choosing a time

Leo's apartment table during a requested five-minute notice check
  1. At the apartment table, Leo lifts his phone before checking the face-down notice while Maya, invited for one brief check, raises a calm pause hand.

Leo has asked Maya to stop by for a five-minute notice check, but he calls before reading the notice or identifying the parcel number.

    Leo

    今日、再配達をお願いします。

    Redelivery today, please.

  2. Leo turns over the notice and sees blank inquiry bars and a separate home-and-address field beside an anonymous operator waveform.

The operator asks for the inquiry number and delivery address first.

    Operator

    お問い合わせ番号をお願いします。

    Your inquiry number, please.

  3. Maya points to the carrier block while Leo points to the blank inquiry field; the home-address and calendar-time fields remain visible below.

Within the brief check Leo requested, Maya points to the carrier block and asks a locating question; Leo identifies the inquiry number, address, and listed redelivery method himself.

    Maya

    配達会社とお問い合わせ番号はどこですか。

Where are the delivery company and inquiry number?

  4. On the prepared call, Leo repeats a next-day calendar, rising-sun, and analog-clock combination while Maya keeps the organized notice nearby.

Leo requests an offered time window and repeats it back for confirmation.

    Leo

    明日の午前中ですね。

    Tomorrow morning, right?

Identify the notice and parcel number

dono nimotsu desu kaWhich parcel is it?Ask when several notices or parcels exist
sashidashinin wa doko ni kaite arimasu kaWhere is the sender written?Locate another identifying field

Do not enter a number from an unexpected message until you confirm the carrier through a trusted source. Use the printed notice, your purchase record, or the carrier’s official website rather than an unverified link.

Request redelivery to the intended address

yūbinkyoku de uketoremasu kaCan I collect it at the post office?Ask; eligibility and procedure vary

Do not assume that online redelivery supports a different address or counter pickup. Japan Post’s current online form, for example, states that web redelivery is for the home address on the notice and directs other receipt requests to its call center or counter process.

Choose an available date and time window

Choose from the current options shown or offered. A time window is not the same as an exact arrival time, and weather, traffic, or operating conditions may affect delivery.

mō ichido kakunin shite kudasaiPlease check once moreUse when the final details do not match

Save the completion screen or confirmation number if provided. If the request fails, keep the notice and contact the carrier through its official channel.

Use the carrier named on the delivery notice

Use the named carrier’s official notice and website. Source check (July 12, 2026): Japan Post’s official redelivery form remains available and states that website applications are for redelivery to the home address printed on the notice. Another carrier may use different fields, time windows, storage periods, and collection options.

Finish the redelivery request and verify it

  • Verify the carrier and exact notice number.
  • Confirm the delivery address before choosing a time.
  • Choose only an offered date and window.
  • Save and repeat the final confirmation.

Reconnect redelivery with the original parcel journey

The notice identifies the carrier and parcel; the delivery lesson prepares you for the confirmed doorstep handoff. If you are sending a parcel yourself, the post-office lesson teaches the earlier service and receipt decisions.
